When Panini lost its NHL licence, the hobby lost a great deal of unique card types. One such type was the chromium cards of products such as Prizm. With their takeover of In The Game, Leaf decided to continue the companies hockey card line, regardless of licencing issues, and to stand as a counterpoint to Upper Deck’s monopoly. One product introduced for the 2014-15 season was Leaf Metal. Offering up a product made up completely of autographed cards, Leaf Metal places its focus heavily on the up and coming stars of the CHL. While the product contains only a handful of sets, there are multiple parallels for each allowing for a wide selection of cards to chose from. The 2014-15 edition of Leaf Metal was limited to 199 cases, each of which promises a Connor McDavid autograph.
